The European Commission has launched a call for evidence on its review of the Market Abuse Directive (MAD) (including some preliminary findings and proposals to improve and simplify MAD).

Although the Commission considers that the effect of MAD has generally been positive, it has identified some elements in the Directive that should be reviewed to enhance its effectiveness and to reduce possible unnecessary burdens.

The deadline for comments is 10 June 2009.
