This consultation paper follows the G20 Declaration and Action Plan published in November 2008, which called for a strengthening of banks' risk management practices. The principles should be considered by institutions and supervisors within the supervisory review framework under Pillar 2. It is hoped that their introduction will help banks in upgrading their risk management practices.

Deadline for comments is 10 July 2009.
