Course Overview
This course is an introduction to the training module that tackles the rationale, principles, and processes of institutional and organizational change. It discusses the various constraints and challenges that confront a change manager and the means to effectively address them. The course is designed for senior managers across various professions.
Course Objectives
At the end of the course delegates will be able to:
• Understand the importance of managing change to improve performance;
• Differentiate institutions from organizations;
• Describe the basic procedures for identifying and resolving institutional/organizational constraints
• Identify and explain key lessons from actual experiences in change management programs within developing country perspective
Course Outline
The course emphasizes sharing of experiences and lessons on how to introduce and manage reforms. It discusses the key steps of the process with particular attention on what are the likely constraints and challenges that will confront a change manager and how they may be effectively addressed. The course content focuses attention on the following themes:

• Why reforms are needed?
• Are reforms possible in an environment that resists change?
• How should reforms be introduced?
• What are the ingredients of success?
• What are the risks and how are they mitigated?
• How to sustain reforms?
